Curriculum

The curriculum to which each child is entitled has been laid down by the National Curriculum, which provides a framework to ensure the development of a child as he/she moves through the school.

In broad terms, the Primary curriculum is intended to encourage the development of children intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically and morally, and to provide children with the basic skills they need for life and work.

  3. To develop an interest in science, technology and the natural world.
  4. To encourage children to express themselves through music, drama, a variety of arts and crafts and to develop skills in these area of the curriculum.
  5. To impart to children an understanding of both the history and geography of the environment in which they live.
  6. To help pupils develop their physical co-ordination and confidence.
  7. To help pupils develop a respect for religious and moral values, as well as tolerance of other races, religions and ways of life.

The strength of our class organisation is the deployment of staff specialisms.  Our joint planning system allows for staff strengths to influence the work in all classes.  Joint planning also allows for consistency between classes and parity of provision for all pupils.
